Vehicle Crashes into Guide Rail on I-80 in Scrubgrass Township

SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a one-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 80 westbound when a driver hit a guide rail in Scrubgrass Township late Sunday night.

According to police, around 11:31 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 29-year-old Tobi Mathew, of Philadelphia, was operating a 2019 Ford Fuse, traveling west on Interstate 80 in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, when his vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway and struck a guide rail with the left front of the vehicle.

Police say after striking the guide rail, the vehicle continued on for approximately 100 feet on the wrong side of the guide rail before coming to a final rest.

Mathew was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

Hovis Towing and PennDOT assisted at the scene.
