ROCKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a one-vehicle crash occurred on Friday night in Rockland Township, Venango County.

According to police, a 2005 Ford Escape was traveling north on Mays Mills Road around 8:54 p.m. on Friday, February 23. As the driver — 27-year-old Clifford E. Watson, of Kennerdell — was negotiating a right turn, he lost control of the vehicle. It subsequently crossed the south lane of travel and left the roadway to the left. The vehicle then traveled over a large rock, through a mailbox, and came to rest, head-on with a tree.

Watson was not using a seat belt, and while the airbag deployed for his seat, he was thrown into the windshield.

Watson was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

Rockland Volunteer Fire Department and Community Ambulance assisted on the scene.

Venango Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
