Vehicle Crashes into Tree off Route 62, 81-Year-Old Man Escapes Injury

MINERAL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 1:47 p.m. on March 18, a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 62 (Mercer Road), at its intersection with Saw Mill Lane, in Mineral Township, Venango County.

According to police, 81-year-old Alex J. Hays of Sandy Lake was traveling northbound on SR 62; he encountered icy roadway conditions and began to slide.

His 2012 Toyota RAV 4 left the roadway surface and struck a tree in the 9 o’clock position, causing moderate damage to the vehicle, police say.

He was using a seat belt and was not injured.

His vehicle was towed from the scene by Lowry’s Towing.
