CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, a one-vehicle accident occurred on the traffic way behind 224 South Main Street, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say 53-year-old David P. Coogan, of Oil City, was backing out of a garage onto a traffic way, and his foot allegedly slipped off of the brake and depressed the gas pedal.

According to police, this action subsequently accelerated the vehicle across the traffic way and into a block building. As a result, the building sustained structural damage, including the outside bricks and inside cinder blocks.

The vehicle sustained major disabling rear end damage.

Coogan was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

Venango Towing assisted at the scene.
