Vehicle Slams into Tree Off Route 227; Rouseville Man Escapes Injury

OIL CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A one-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday morning on State Route 227 (Rouseville Road), in Oil Creek Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 7:29 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 22-year-old Austin M. Lewis, of Rouseville, was traveling north on Route 227.

A deer entered the roadway, and Lewis was unable to avoid striking it.

He lost control of his 1998 Toyota 4Runner after striking the deer and crossed into the left lane and off the left side of the roadway. His vehicle then struck a tree, causing damage to its front.

The vehicle also sustained disabling damage to both of its rear tires.

Lewis was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.
