Venango Campus to Hold V-Day Performances on February 17,18

| February 1, 2017

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) –  The Oil Region V-Day 2017 features The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. The performances will be held two nights, February 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert W. Rhoades Auditorium at Clarion University’s Venango Campus.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls by promoting creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations.

Clarion University’s Venango campus students are passionate about issues of violence and are supporting a celebration on campus to get students, faculty, staff, and the community talking.

The campus’ ALLIES Club is sponsoring benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues to generate attention for the fight to stop violence, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation and sex slavery.

Tickets are $10.00 at the door and Clarion University students will be admitted free with a valid ID.

“Expect to feel moved, to laugh and cry. Some will be uncomfortable at times, but, overall, it’s a good growing experience,” said Kiyomi Knox, Counselor Advocate at PPC Violence Free Network, a program of Family Service and Children’s Aid Society, which serves the campus through counseling advocacy and education on issues of domestic and sexual violence.

Proceeds from the show will benefit this organization.
