Allen R. Sharrer, Jr., owner of 1st Rate Realty in Franklin

Business Description:

I began selling Real Estate on January 2, 2006. I received my Broker License on January 3, 2013. In my years of selling real estate, I have listed and sold on both the commercial and residential side of real estate.

I continue to educate myself in the business to stay on top of the ever changing market. I pride myself on ethics and honesty. I look forward to growing my business in the city in which I was born and raised. I strongly believe in our endless resources, local talent, and community pride.

Professional background:

I started with rental properties when I was in my twenties. That was about twenty years ago. I’ve worked in sales and purchasing for Dennis Trailers in Harrisville, and at the same time, I was selling real estate. My son is active in sports and wresting, and I needed more time, so, after seven years of doing both, I decided to open my own company.

Allen passed inspection, attained a broker’s license, and has just opened on January 3rd.

Business philosophy?

I would say I’d like to base my business on ethics and honesty. I treat each buyer with the same amount of respect, whether the property is $20,000.00 or $200,000.00. Being honest gets you further with people. When it comes to selling. overpricing is the biggest downfall. Buyers that are initially interested at first might lose interest if the property sits on the market, even as the price gets reduced.

Business goal?

-to be successful. This is where I was born and raised. It’s a good community with strong support for others. Our area seems to thrive even in tough economic times. We forge ahead and continue to grow. I’ve hired two agents and am looking forward to working with them – Chase Adams and Tina Hart.

Biggest challenge?

-attaining financing. Banks are pretty tight nowadays. A lot of buyers don’t have 20% to put down. Older housing might need fixed up, and unless the seller is willing to do repairs, it can be difficult.

Best business experience?

-I’d have to say gaining experience on commercial deals.

-Anything new and challenging. I’m not afraid to tackle anything, you just need drive and determination to make things work.

-Advice from other brokers. There are a lot of good people in this business locally. During my transition, I worked with Dale Wilson. He’s been a great mentor. He’s a kind, generous person.

-A good client following

-Starting this business smoothly and painlessly

Why should the people of Venango County use your service or buy your product?

-I would say because from start to finish we will do everything in our power to allocate the resources to get things done. I’ve even helped people with poor credit over a year or two build it up so they could attain financing.

-Good communication. I like to keep on top of things and not let things fall through the cracks. It pays off both for the buyer and seller, for me to keep on top of things.

What is something about your business that people may not know?

A lot of people don’t realize that I can show properties listed by other companies.

What’s next for 1st Rate Realty?

Everything is next – laughing

Continue to move forward and grow.
