FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The Venango County Commissioners on Wednesday sent a letter in support of Allegheny County’s bid for to make that county the home of Amazon’s second headquarters.

“From our vantage point 50 miles north, Pittsburgh and greater Allegheny County are an up-and-coming area to be a prime contender for Amazon’s HQ2,” the letter said.

“The area’s rebirth as a center for innovation in medical research, robotics, and technology provide an atmosphere that easily integrates with an anchor employer like Amazon, while the region’s strong selection of world-class universities, focused on innovation, provides a dynamic and capable workforce to support Amazon’s model.”

The letter goes on to point out how Venango County would be able to play a role in supporting the Amazon HQ2.

“Venango County has many amenities that may support Allegheny’s quest to become the home of Amazon HQ2,” the letter reads. “Venango County offers an unprecedented quality of life, with a vibrant outdoor recreational trail and an active waterway system, which are both enjoyed by people across the region and state. Additionally, a low cost of living combined with its close proximity to major highway systems make Venango County an attractive place to live and operate businesses. One of the major local benefits to offer is a robust fiber optic internet system that connects Venango County directly to Chicago — a global network hub that is an intersection of virtually every major data network. The direct connection supports a loop at any capacity desired.”

The commissioners, Chip Abramovic, Tim Brooks, and Vincent Witherup see the letter as being part of Allegheny County’s application packet, and it came about after informal meetings by Abramovic with Allegheny County and Pittsburgh leadership.
