Oil City Man Who Punched Girl Sentenced to Probation

GavelFRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man who punched a girl during an incident last summer was sentenced on Monday in the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

According to court documents, 44-year-old Richard James (Jamie) Vitka, Jr., of Oil City, received one-year probation from Judge Oliver Lobaugh.

Vitka pleaded guilty on January 22 to one count of simple assault.

A charge of harassment was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Case details:

According to a criminal complaint, on Sunday, July 30, Oil City Police Patrolman Webster spoke with a known female who said she received messages on Facebook from a known juvenile female who said she was punched by Vitka.

When Webster spoke with the victim, she said that Vitka had punched her, causing a contusion above her right eye during an incident that occurred on Friday, July 28.
