Inmate Who Escaped from Hospital, Led Police on Manhunt Waives Hearing

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Venango County Jail inmate who escaped custody while at UPMC Northwest and led police on a three-hour manhunt waived his preliminary hearing in court this week.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 36-year-old Jeffery Scott Feely Jr., of Oil City, were waived for court on Wednesday, April 17:

– Escape, Felony 3
– Flight to Avoid Apprehension/Trial/Punishment, Felony 3
– Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3

The charges have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Feely remains lodged in the Venango County Jail without bail with the bail action reason listed as “flight risk.”

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:17 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, Feely escaped from UPMC Northwest while being treated by the UPMC Behavioral health Unit after being transported to UPMC by the Venango County Jail.

According to the complaint, Feely led police on a search that lasted approximately three hours before he was captured in Seneca at the intersection of South Main Street and State Route 257.

The complaint notes Feely was being held at the Venango County Jail on felony drug charges.

Based on the investigation, Feely was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9.

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail without bail with the bail action reason listed as “flight risk”.

Feely is also facing charges in a separate case for fleeing a court appointed rehab facility in March.
