MEADVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Venango County recently received approval to join the Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA).

According to a published article on titusvilleherald.com, the Crawford County commissioners unanimously voted to bring Venango County onboard.

According to CATA’s solicitor, the authority must submit articles of amendment for their articles of cooperation to the Department of State. Once the department approves the amendment, CATA will make changes to its bylaws for the CATA board, making it so one board member is chosen by Venango County, while the remaining four will remain Crawford County choices.

Venango County has already chosen Commissioner Chairman Timothy Brooks as their CATA board member.

CATA first began servicing Venango County last year as part of a regionalization effort by the Bureau of Public Transportation.

The bureau performed a study that determined Forest, Warren, Clarion, Crawford, and Venango counties could benefit from having their transportation services merged.

CATA made an offer to the other counties shortly afterward; however, only Venango has responded.
