Venango County Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Cherry Cake

Chocolate Cherry Cake

Ingredients

1 regular size pkg. chocolate fudge cake mix
2 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
1 – 21 oz. can cherry pie filling
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

~Preheat oven at 350°.

~In a bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, and extract. Add pie filling and mix well.

~Spread into a greased 15x10x1″ baking pan. Bake for 18-22 minutes.

~Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine sugar, milk, and butter. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted. Remove from the heat and stir in chocolate chips until melted.

~Pour over warm cake, spreading evenly. Cool completely before cutting. Store in the refrigerator.

~32 servings.
