Venango County Recipe of the Day: Barbecued Meatballs

This recipe makes a great-tasting main course!

Barbecued Meatballs

Ingredients:

1 egg, lightly beaten
1 can evaporated milk
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 pounds ground beef

Sauce:
1 cup ketchup
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke, optional
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

~Preheat oven at 350°.

~In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well.

~Shape into 1-in balls. Place meatballs on a greased rack in a shallow baking pan. Bake uncovered for 18 to 20 minutes. Drain.

~Meanwhile, combine the sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour over meatballs.

~Bake 10 to 12 minutes longer.
