Venango County Recipe of the Day: Spicy Hamburger Stew

Spicy Hamburger Stew


2 pounds ground beef
1-1/2 cups diced onion
1 – 28 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 – 15 oz. can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1 – 15-1/4 oz. can whole kernel corn, drained
1 cup medium Picante sauce
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Salt (to taste)
Shredded cheddar cheese


~In large skillet, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.

~Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

~Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese.

~Makes eight servings.
