This recipe makes an easy, great-tasting snack!
Sweet & Salty Caramel Snack
¾ cup butter – softened
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 ½ cups flour
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 — 14 oz. pkg. caramels
1/3 cup half-and-half cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
1 cup salted cashews – chopped
~Preheat oven to 350°.
~In a large bowl mix butter, brown sugar, and egg. Stir in flour and oats. Then spread and press mixture into a greased 9x13x2 baking pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
~Meanwhile, combine caramels and cream in a small saucepan and cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. When melted pour over the baked crust and sprinkle with the chocolate and cashews.
~Bake for an additional 8 minutes or until chocolate begins to melt. Let cool before cutting.
