Learning good money management habits early is critical to the achievement of life’s “good things” and much easier than breaking bad habits later.

Teaching children the value of a dollar, how to earn money, and the wisdom of saving for the things we want, is a good place to begin.

We can all agree that achieving an education is a youth’s primary “job,” but with FOR-CU’s Smart Saver Accounts, achieving good grades can also earn them money and help teach them about financial management.

These accounts are for students age 18 and under, rewarding them for excelling in their education.

When students bring their year-end report card into one of Franklin-Oil Region Credit Union offices, FOR-CU will deposit in their Smart Saver Account $1.00 for every “A” and $0.50 for every “B” the students have earned during the school year.

Students can see the growth of their account – what they deposit on their own, what they earn with their good grades, and the interest earned – and start learning the saving habit early. These earnings become available at age 18, and can be used by the student toward their higher education, purchasing their first car, starting a business, or any other goal they set.

Visit Franklin-Oil Region Credit Union’s office in either Oil City or Franklin to open your child’s Smart Saver Account today.
