SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — Sugarcreek Borough Police filed criminal charges against a 14-year-old Rocky Grove High School male student who threatened others at the school last week.

According to police, one count of terroristic threats was filed in the District Attorney’s office against the teen who said he was going to bring weapons to the school and “shoot the place up.”

According to Police Chief Matt Carlson, his department learned of the threat around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17.

“Tuesday at about 8:30 a.m., the student made statements to other students and staff that he was going to commit a crime of violence with a gun at the school Wednesday,” Carlson said. “When we found out about the threat that evening, we located him, arrested him, and placed him where his movements were limited.”

“It caused quite an uproar on social media Tuesday night,” Carlson said. “Parents weren’t going to let their kids come to school.”

Carlson said the school was not closed due to the incident.
