Victim Identified in Fatal SUV — PennDOT Snow Plow Crash

MERCER COUNTY, Pa. — The name of the driver who perished in the accident on Interstate 79 on Sunday, November 24, has been released.

Police identified the man through dental records as James Fanning, 52, of Zelienople.

The accident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on November 24, as Fanning was heading south on I-79, just past the Route 62 exit.

Fanning’s SUV struck the back of a PennDOT plow truck, spun around, and caught on fire.

It is believed by police, that Fanning was traveling at a high rate of speed.

He was killed in the collision.

Jason McGhee, of Mercer, who was operating the plow, was not injured, according to police.
