OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Oil City Police Chief Robert Wenner has confirmed the identity of the victims of the homicide-suicide that occurred at an Oil City residence on Saturday morning.

Chief Wenner told exploreVenango.com, “The victims were identified as 25-year-old Keriann Beach and 28-year-old Corey Walters.”

He said that it was determined there was a disturbance at the residence around 3:00 a.m.

“Beach was murdered by Walters at the residence by a single gunshot wound to the head. Shortly afterward, Walters shot himself at a location near or adjacent to the area by a single gunshot wound to the head,” said Chief Wenner.

Calls to Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh on Monday morning were not returned.

On Sunday morning, the Oil City Police Department issued a release indicating that multiple officers were dispatched to the area of Hone Avenue and Bishop Avenue on Saturday around 10:45 a.m. for a report of a possible murder-suicide.

Venango County District Attorney Shawn White arrived on scene a short time later and consulted with investigators.

“Evidence collected at the scene was consistent with and confirmed that it was, in fact, a homicide/suicide,” according to the release.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh pronounced both individuals dead.

On Sunday morning, Chief Wenner said that “until we are absolutely certain that all family members have been notified, the names of the individuals will not be released. Since it is a weekend, we are having difficulty contacting family members.”
