Virginia Ann Jewell Adams, 97, formerly of Polk, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Sugar Creek Station.

Born on February 2, 1921 in Mineral Township, she was the daughter of the late Prentice H. and “Nanny” Gertrude (Dobbs) Jewell.

On June 20, 1942, she married Richard S. Adams; he preceded her in death on March 26, 1988.

Between 1961 and 1972, Virginia worked at Polk Center in the Nursery as a housekeeper.

In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed her handicrafts, especially knitting, sewing, and crocheting; she crocheted over 200 afghans, which she liked to give away or use as raffle prizes for local events. She also loved being outdoors in her garden, tending to her flowers.

Virginia especially cherished the time she spent with her family.

Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Mary Lou Buckley and her husband, Neil, of Polk and Martha “Marty” Stull and her husband, Samuel, of Titusville; her grandchildren, Barb Dignall and her husband, Dennis, of Cochranton, Doug Buckley and his wife, Anne, of Polk, Richard Adams and his wife, Dawna, of WV, Rhonda Pruitt and her husband, Rexton, of IL, Michelle Adams and her special friend, Randy, of GA, Paul R. Adams and his wife, Mindy, of Polk, Cathy Eggleston of NM, and Jeff Stull of Titusville; her 17 great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; and her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Adams of Polk.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her two sons, David Adams and his wife, Donna and Paul R. Adams; her grandson, Michael Leckemby; her brother, Cordell Jewell; and her two sisters, Mary Buckley and Elsie Krizon.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323, from 3 pm — 7 pm.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., starting at 11 am, with Reverend Drew Bell, pastor of the Polk United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be held at Old Sandy Cemetery.
