Virginia B. Amos

Virginia B. Amos, 79 of Stoneboro, passed away peacefully the morning of January 31, 2019 at Grove Manor in Grove City.

Virginia was born at home in Stoneboro on May 29, 1939 to the late John Phillip Hines and Ruby Whitthall. She was a 1957 graduate of Lakeview High School and went on to graduate from the Youngstown Beauty School. She was a beautician for a number of years at Jud’s Beauty Shop in Sandy Lake and also worked at the Interstate Auto Auction, now Adesa, for over 20 years.

Virginia was married to her beloved husband, Richard L. “Dick” Amos on June 2, 1958, he preceded her in death on February 26, 1999.

Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #110. She also played in many card clubs over the years and she liked to travel, especially to the southwest. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren.

Virginia was of the Presbyterian faith.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Rebecca L. “Becki” Campbell and husband William “Jesse” of Stoneboro, and son Richard J. “Rick” Amos, grandchildren Chelsie, Danny, and Sydney Campbell, all of Stoneboro, brother William Hines Sr., and wife Jan of Franklin, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Hines.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her son Daniel “Danny” Amos, and brother John P. Hines III.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 3-7 pm on Monday, February 4, and from 10-11 on Tuesday, February 5. A funeral service will follow visitation at the funeral home at 11 am on Tuesday with the Rev. Justin Spurgin, Pastor of Messiah Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
