Wanda Y. Himes

Wanda Y. Himes, 76, of Campbelltown Road, Kane, near Mt. Jewett, died Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2018, at UPMC Kane.

Born April 16, 1941, in Redclyffe, Forest County, she was the daughter of George J. and Gladys E. Cook Nicklas. She was married to Ray Himes until his death in 2000.

A homemaker, Wanda worked for the Mt. Jewett Ambulance for thirty-three years. She was a member of the Mt. Jewett American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Sportsman’s Club and American Legion in Wilcox, and greatly enjoyed fishing and camping.

Surviving are a daughter Lori Baker of Mt. Jewett; a son Ray (Bobby Jo) Himes, Jr. in North Carolina; brothers Joe Nicklas of Sackett and and Terry Nicklas of Kane; sisters Sandra Shugars of Penfield and Debbie Compton of Kane; grandchildren Dustin Himes, Cecil Miller, Jr., Kristin Miller and Samantha Young. Eight great-grandchildren also survive, in addition to her companion and fiance Tom Beglin, with whom she lived, and his children Rob Beglin, Ryanne Beglin, and Terra Beglin.

A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Mt. Jewett American Legion, with dinner to follow.
