Warming Shelters Available Throughout the Area As Deep Freeze Sets In

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – Warming shelters are being made available at several locations throughout the region as frigid temperatures begin to set in.

Due to the extremely cold temperatures forecasted for the area, multiple local agencies are preparing to open emergency shelters.

Venango County

According to a representative of Venango County Emergency Management, coordination of emergency warming shelters throughout the county is currently in progress.

One emergency shelter currently available is at The Pointe, located at 259 Seneca Street in Oil City.

Clarion County

Emergency shelters will be located at the following locations:

Hawthorn Fire Department – 3891 Main Street, Hawthorn, PA 16230
Knox Fire Company – 514 E Railroad Street, Knox, PA 16232
Knox United Methodist Church – 9729 Route 338, Knox, PA 16232
New Bethlehem Fire Company – 425 Arch Street, New Bethlehem, PA 16242
Strattanville Fire Company – 441 Washington Street, Strattanville, PA 16258

Please note these shelters in Clarion County will not be staffed unless they are needed. To have a shelter opened, please contact Clarion County Department of Public Safety by calling 814-226-7020 or by dialing 9-1-1 if it is an emergency situation.

Jefferson County

According to a representative of Jefferson County Emergency Services, there are currently no warming shelters open in Jefferson County, but warming stations can be up in running in a short period of time, and they will be opened if the need arises.
