Warren County Man Arrested for Rape of Minor; Charged with 174 Offenses

PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Warren-based State Police say a 62-year-old Russell man was arrested yesterday after an investigation of him allegedly sexually assaulting two minors between 2003 and 2010 on Priest Hollow Road, in Pine Grove Township, Warren County.

According to police, 62-year-old Daniel Lynn Brecht, of Russell, was charged with the following crimes against a known female between the ages of 11 and 18, between 2003 and early 2010:

-14 counts of Rape, Felony 1
-10 counts of Statutory Sexual Assault, Felony 1
-14 counts of Sexual Assault, Felony 2
-21 counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault, Felony 2
-6 counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault, victim under 13 years of age, Felony 1
-37 counts of Indecent Assault, Misdemeanor 1
-6 counts of Indecent Assault, victim under 13 years of age, Felony 3
-20 counts of Indecent Assault, victim under 16 years of age, Misdemeanor 2
-39 counts of Corruption of Minors, Misdemeanor 1
-1 count of Endangering Welfare of Children, Felony 3

He was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Laura S. Bauer.

Unable to post $100,000.00 bail, he was lodged in the Warren County Jail.

In a parallel case, he was also charged with the following offenses for assaulting another victim between the ages of 10-12 during the same time span:

-2 counts of Indecent Assault, victim under 13 years of age, Felony 3
-2 counts of Indecent Assault, victim under 16 years of age, Misdemeanor 2
-1 count of Endangering the Welfare of Children, Felony 3
-1 count of Corruption of Minors, Misdemeanor 1

In this case, he was remanded to the Warren County Jail in lieu of $100,000.00.

Brecht’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on October 30, in front of District Judge Laura S. Bauer.
