Wayne L. Clyde

Wayne L. Clyde, 94, formerly of Oil City, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at the Jefferson Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson, OH.

Born March 1, 1924, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Robert and Bessie Beck Clyde.

Wayne was a long-time member of New Lyme Baptist Church in Rome, OH.

He worked in Oil City at Jones and Laughlin (J & L) Steel Corp. Plant, now Webco, as a tubing manufacturer, and his work carried him to Chicago, Wisconsin, and Ohio. He was known for his quality work in tubing until he retired in 1986.

Wayne loved having a garden year after year, fishing in Canada, woodworking, and small engine repair. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends and was known for his stories.

On July 1, 1947, he was married to the former Nina L. Carnes, who preceded him in death on April 16, 1997.

Surviving is a son, John Clyde and his wife, Marian, of Chicago; a grandchild Tina Lorden and her husband, Mark, of WI; and three great-grandchildren, Dakota, Addyson, and Jarred.

Also surviving is a brother, Bill Clyde, and a sister, Betty Slater and her husband, Howard, all of Oil City; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mary Ann Firster of Ashtabula, OH, and her son, Frank Firster, and his son, Shane Firster, both of Jacksonville, FL.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother Robert Lee Clyde.

Visitation will be held at Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday, October 13, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul W. Woods officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the VETS Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Morrison Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
