The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh issued the following flood watch at 5:33 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017:

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT SATURDAY…

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest Pennsylvania and western Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in northwest Pennsylvania, Mercer and Venango. In western Pennsylvania, Lawrence.

* Until 4 AM EDT Saturday

* Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop after 6 PM and quickly become more numerous and heavy.

* Successive rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected through much of the night in the area, leading for an increased risk of flash flooding, especially after the heavy rainfall received in some areas on Thursday evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
