The National Weather Service Center of Pittsburgh issued the following Urgent Winter Weather Message at 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017:

…LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 PM EST WEDNESDAY…

* WHAT…Heavy lake effect snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute on
Wednesday. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with localized amounts up to 12 inches, are expected.

* WHERE…Venango, Forest and Clarion Counties.

* WHEN…From 7 AM this morning to 1 PM EST Wednesday. The period of heaviest snow will occur tonight.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.

A Lake Effect Snow Warning means significant amounts of lake effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
