WEATHER ALERT: Tornado Warning Issued for Venango County, Surrounding Areas

A Tornado Warning has been issued for Venango County and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh has issued the following Severe Weather Statement at 3:01 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017:

301 PM EDT MON MAY 1 2017

…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 PM EDT FOR SOUTHEASTERN VENANGO…NORTHEASTERN BUTLER…NORTHWESTERN ARMSTRONG
AND WEST CENTRAL CLARION COUNTIES…

At 301 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles southwest of Knox, moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near… Knox around 315 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Emlenton, Foxburg, Parker, St. Petersburg, Shippenville, Callensburg, Sligo. and Eau Claire.

This includes Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 42 and 64.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
