SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (EYT) – Webco Industries founder, chairman, and patriarch, F. William (Bill) Weber, a Pittsburgh native, died Sunday in Oklahoma at the age of 92.

Weber founded Webco in 1969 with a goal of creating a vibrant company for the ages. He served as chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of the company until his daughter, Dana, took over as CEO in 2011.

His focus began by providing manufacturers of heat exchangers with the highest quality tubing and customer service. From that focused beginning, Bill guided Webco on a mission to create an organization that would eventually become the leading provider of pressure tubing in North America.

Webco, which is headquartered in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, near Tulsa, has two facilities in Venango County – Oil City Tube on Seneca Street in Oil City and Webco Industries Value-Added Facility (VAF) Reno on Progress Drive off Route 8 in Reno.

Oil City Tube, which has been in operation at the site since Webco purchased the former Van Huffel Tube plant in Oil City in 1989, was named Oil City business of the year in 2002. The Reno facility, which supplies carbon steel and other tube products, a more recent addition, opened in 2006.

Overall, Webco operates five tube production facilities in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania, as well as nine VAFs in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, and Michigan.

Before founding Webco, Weber worked as regional sales manager for United States Steel Corp., National Tube Division. He began with U.S. Steel in 1954. Weber previously worked for Columbia Gas Systems in purchasing and was in the U.S. Army’s Aviation Cadet Program.

Weber received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 and his MBA from the University of Tulsa in 1963.

He was married to Martha “Marty” Rose Allison, originally of Marietta, Ohio, at Heinz Memorial Chapel on June 16, 1949. Martha was known for becoming the first female Executive Assistant at US Steel Corporation.

The couple’s partnership was critical to the survival and success of the business they built together. They traveled the world establishing business relationships to secure the company’s future and to ensure they grew together in experiences. Martha worked by Weber’s side at Webco until her retirement in 1994. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2016.

Dana S. Weber, the current CEO of Webco, stated, “My dad will be Forever, because Webco is a Forever type of company. Dad instilled in each of us that success is a means, not an end, and that winning is only assessed by the judgment of time.”

“Through Bill’s selfless leadership, our successes have been continuously reinvested in our company and remain present today in the form of a highly engaged organization, loyal customers and suppliers, world-class technology, and all of it underpinned by a culture of abundant trust,” David E. Boyer, Webco’s Chief Operating Officer, added.

“Bill was a father to us all, teaching us the principles of life and making us all better people. Bill proactively dealt with ownership transition issues almost two decades ago, ensuring uninterrupted continuity of Webco’s business,” Michael P. Howard, Webco’s Chief Financial Officer, commented.
