FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) — The seventh- and eighth-grade students at West Forest School participated in the “Winter Olympics” during their physical education and English Language Arts classes during the week of February 5 to February 9.

Students participated in the bobsled races (scooters), the snowball throw (yarn), snowshoe races, and ice hockey (gym hockey).

The students competed for the fastest times, furthest distances, and most goals.

Along with the fun competitions, students participated in cross-curricular activities by doing research on the different countries, creating flags to represent them, and doing research about the different events. They also wrote compare and contrast essays on the summer and winter Olympics.

As the winter Olympics continue, the students will be reading nonfiction articles about the events.
