William E. “Bill” Brandon

| October 17, 2014

William E. “Bill” Brandon, 85, of Pone Lane, Franklin, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2014, at UPMC Northwest with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born June 5, 1929, in Butler. He was the son of the late William Burdett and Edna Dunn Brandon.

He was married to Mary Elizabeth Saul 65 years ago on November 25, 1949, she survives.

Bill was a long time member of Fox Street Church of God. He was the owner and operator of Venango Awning for 30 years.

Paramount in Mr. Brandon’s life was his love of the Kiwanis Club of Franklin; where he had served as the club’s Past-President. He more than enjoyed the fellowship he shared with the club’s members. His ready smile and cheerful disposition were always present, as he was, at the Franklin High School Football games—selling peanuts for the club with his friends. Even as his health was failing, he would still show up in his motorized wheelchair to help out. The membership of the club returned the love that they had for him, by going to his home to visit and for cookouts as he was unable to participate.

He was very involved in serving his community by volunteering for Toy Makers, Meals on Wheels, and serving on the board of the Salvation Army. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Franklin.

Bill enjoyed hunting and taught the Hunter Safety Course for the Pennsylvania Game Commission for several years. He had many memorable hunting trips with his friends and family. Bill will be deeply missed by all those who loved him!

Surviving, in addition to his wife Mary, are his children, Ricki Pich and her husband Phil of San Antonio, Texas and Vicki Hull and her husband Chip of Hinsdale, IL and Naples, Florida; his grandchildren, CJ, Brittnay and Megan Hull all of Chicago; his step-grandchildren Tony Pich of San Antonio, Texas and Roxanne Phillips of Pacific, Missouri; his step great-grandchildren Phillip and Celeste Pich of San Antonio, Texas and Caili Tyree of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Noah, Hazel Cummings and Chervyl Wehr.

A memorial service in celebration of his life, for friends and family will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo Street, Franklin with Reverend Lonnie Wolford, officiating.

Private Interment will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent in Bill’s name to either: The Kirtland Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 108, Franklin, PA 16323 or The Visiting Nurses of Venango County Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, PA 16323.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.
