William Howard Semple, Jr. obit photoWilliam Howard Semple, Jr. a lifelong resident of Grove City passed away Saturday evening at 9:48 PM surrounded by his wife and children in his home following a one-month illness. He was 81.

Mr. Semple was born in Grove City, PA on March 18, 1935 to William Howard and Aida F. Young Semple.

He married Wanda D. Wolfe on June 24, 1955.

He was an over the road truck driver throughout his life and at different times he was self-employed or drove for different companies. Following his retirement he worked in maintenance and lawn care for Grove City Country Club, a job that he truly loved.

Mr. Semple was a member of West Unity Community Church. He served in the US Navy in the Korean War.

For many years Mr. Semple and his wife would spend winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL where he was an avid shuffleboard player and belonged to different leagues.

Survivors include, his wife, Wanda at home, 1 daughter, Valerie Ferguson and husband Jeff, Harrisville, 2 sons, William D. Semple, Mercer and Randy Semple, New Smyrna Beach, FL, a daughter-in-law, Wendy Semple, Gallatin, TN, 9 grandchildren, Erica Semple, Corey Corbin, Kiley Semple, Todd Semple, Travis Corbin, Abby Ferguson, Chelsea, Jess and Tessa Semple, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Lois Sevin and husband Ed, Grove City, PA. His parents and a son, Richard William Semple, preceded him in death.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or West Unity Community Church, 400 Unity Road, Harrisville, PA 16038

The Funeral Service will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, PA on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Boyd Smith officiating.

Visitation will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., Grove City on Tuesday, July 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 PM

He will be burried with Military honors in Crestview Memorial Park, Inc. Grove City
