William James Keener, 74, of Kittanning, died on Wednesday afternoon, September 17, 2014 at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning as the result of an auto accident on Route 422.

He was born on September 1, 1940 in Distant the son of Melvin M. and Ernestene (Edmonds) Keener. He was married on August 25, 1961 to Mary Ann (Getty) and she survives.

Bill served his country with the United States Army Reserve from 1958 to 1965. He worked as a caster for Eljer Plumbingware and was a member of the Kittanning Alliance Church. Bill loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul and strength and was active in an Evangelical Fair Ministry where he could share his joy in the Lord with others.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Keener, his is also survived by two daughters, Lisa Cox and husband Rob of Kittanning and Tammy Mook of Venango, a son, William Scott Keener of Kittanning, five grandchildren; Michael Cox and wife Samantha, Matthew Cox, Benjamin Mook and wife Samantha, Carissa Moser and husband Devin and Lennea Mook, a great grandson, Max Moser, a sister, Linda Keener of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and a brother, Bob Keener and his wife Jill of Ashland, Pa.

Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 1 – 3 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Applebee officiating.

Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post # 354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade. Interment will be in the Hawthorn Cemetery in Hawthorn.
