William L. Buchanan

William L. Buchanan, age 66 of Knox, passed away early Sunday morning, March 19, 2017, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

Born April 3, 1951 in Olean, New York, he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Margaret E. Bickel Buchanan.

He married the former Cindy O’Neil on August 13, 1983 and she survives.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam era. He also spent two years serving in the National Guard.

He drove truck for Gardenscape in Emlenton and McClymond’s Trucking in Portersville.

Bill attended the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking, remodeling and building various projects.

In addition to his wife, Cindy, Bill is survived by two sons: Matthew W. Buchanan and his wife, Tina, of St. Petersburg and Daniel L. Buchanan of Knox; three grandchildren: Jason, Elaine and Jade; two brothers: Leroy H. Buchanan and wife, Ellen, of Youngsville, N.C.; Carl Joseph Buchanan and his wife, Julie, of Limestone, N.Y. and five sisters, Rose Bailey of Kane; Sandy Buchanan of Mount Jewett; Barbara Montouri of Bradford; Nancy Moreth and her husband, Norman, of Bradford and Regina Stier-Walker and her husband, Gene, of Seneca.

Bill is also survived by his mother-in-law, LaRue O’Neil of Knox and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Finland and father-in-law, Stanley O’Neil, both of Knox.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the funeral home with the Revered Rick Osberg, pastor of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Starr Cemetery in Ninevah.
