William McCuneWilliam Merle McCune, 85 of Utica, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his residence.

Born, September 28, 1931 in Canal Township, Venango County, he was the son of Wylie Ernest and Ala Grace Lesher McCune.

He married Jeanene Baker on June 18, 1954 and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2010.

He served with the US Army for 2 ½ years and was honorably discharged in March of 1954, and received the OCC Medal in Germany.

For 20 years he worked at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Franklin and he and his wife would sell their baked goods at the Franklin and Oil City Curb Markets.

Bill enjoyed farming, gardening, and camping and was a member of the Lucky 13 CBers club and his handle was “PotatoHead”

Survivors include his daughter Debra S. McClelland and her husband Robert, and two sons, William W. McCune and his wife Lisa and Paul B. McCune all of Utica. A granddaughter Julie M. Lee, 2 great grandchildren, Loni P. Lee Jr., and Connor M. Lee. Three sisters, Doris Lynn of Cochranton, Betty Snyder and her husband Jim of Franklin and Marjorie Rodgers, 4 brothers, Donald McCune and his wife Sarah of Cochranton, Robert McCune and his wife Linda of Franklin, Gary McCune and his wife Marilyn of California and Eugene McCune.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters Viola Johnston and Dorothy Brunton and 4 brothers Wayne, Wylie, Dick and Paul McCune.

Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9.

The funeral service will be 11:00am Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis McCune, a nephew, officiating.

Interment will be in the Lupher Chapel Cemetery.
