Without Haynes, Franklin Offense Sputters in Loss to Warren

WARREN, Pa. (EYT) – With star quarterback Ian Haynes missing the game with an injury, Franklin’s offense stalled in a 47-7 loss at Warren.

The Knights managed just 51 total yards of offense and five first downs in the game with the lone score coming with 3:19 to play when Aaron Burkhardt hit Cade Adams with a 33-yard touchdown pass.

Burkhardt was 6 of 19 passing for 89 yards, the touchdown and the interception with Adams catching four passes for 61 yards and the score.

But the Knights couldn’t generate a ground game and lost 38 yards on 14 carries.

Meanwhile, Warren QB Jake Kupchella threw a pair of touchdown passes and went 11 of 16 passing for 144 yards. He hit Marvin Bryant with a 37-yard pass and James Swanson with a 6-yard toss. Kupchella added a pair of rushing touchdowns scoring on runs of 15 yards an 1 yard, while Swanson also scored on a 10-yard run. Aidan Morrison (2 yards) and Trevor Wills (13 yards) had rushing scores in the fourth quarter for the Dragons, who ran for 243 yards and passes for 150. Swanson had eight carries for 108 yards and two catches for 21 with Bryant catching three passes for 64 yards.
