OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A 30-year-old woman who allegedly made a false report of child sexual abuse in Oil City waived her preliminary hearing yesterday.

According to court documents, the following charge against 30-year-old Leanne M. Watson, of Sharon, was waived for court on Wednesday, February 13:

– False Reports of Child Abuse, Misdemeanor 2

The charge has been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Watson remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

The charge stems from an investigation into the report of the sexual abuse of a child.

The Oil City Police Department filed the charge against Watson on January 7, 2019.

According to a criminal complaint, through the investigation, Officer McDivitt, of the Oil City Police Department, found the allegation to be false.

Furthermore, Officer McDivitt conducted an interview with Leanne Watson in which she denied making such an accusation of child abuse.

Officer McDivitt made contact with persons of “child line,” and they provided a telephone number of the person who made the initial accusation. The number was found to belong to Leanne M. Watson, which was confirmed via the Visual Alert Records System at the Oil City Police Department, the complaint states.

A certified summons was issued on January 7.
