JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a bear on the roadway caused a crash in Forest County on Saturday night.

According to police, around 8:44 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 22-year-old Danielle L. Taylor, of Kane, was operating a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, traveling north on State Route 66 near just north of its intersection with Schrecengost Road in Jenks Township, Forest County.

Police say the bear entered the northbound lane from the east side of the road and Taylor swerved to avoid hitting it. Taylor then lost control of the vehicle and it struck a utility pole. The vehicle came to a final rest facing southeast.

Taylor suffered suspected minor injuries but was not transported.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Snyder’s Auto Body and Towing.

Marienville Volunteer Fire Department and Clarion Hospital EMS assisted at the scene.
