CLARION, Pa. – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that lane closures and a 12-foot width restriction will be in place on Interstate 80 between the Emlenton Exit (Route 38) and the Clarion Exit (Route 68) beginning Monday, April 1, for a bridge preservation project. The restrictions will be in place until the end of
November 2013.

Maintenance and painting work will be performed on the bridges on I-80 East and West including the Emlenton Bridge and the bridges over the Clarion River and Beaver Creek.

Preventative maintenance will be performed to increase the longevity of the bridges and keep them from deteriorating – forcing postings or closures.

PennDOT reminds motorists to be alert to changing conditions and to pay attention to flaggers in the work zone. Remember fines are doubled; drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.

This $27,128,770 bridge preventative maintenance project is being constructed by North Star Painting of Youngstown, and Swank Contracting of New Kensington. This is a two-year project with work to be suspended over the coming
winter and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2014.
