OIL CITY, Pa. — The Oil City YMCA has announced registration for the Before & After School Program during the 2019-2020 school year.

Parents of children entering kindergarten through sixth grade are eligible to receive care through the YMCA Younger Days Child Care program.  The program is fully licensed and operates from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through YMCA.

Children in the program will receive a healthy snack, physical activity, gym time, homework assistance, swimming, a values and character program, and use of the YMCA while supervised by licensed and certified staff.

Before & After School Care will be located at the YMCA Younger Years Child Care Center at 316 West First Street and the Oil City YMCA all180 days of school, during school days off, snow days, and vacation days.

Registration for the program is available now.  Limited space is available for youth in kindergarten through sixth grade.

“This is a great opportunity for children to receive homework help and physical activity while their parents are still working,” said Jennifer Cooper, YMCA Child Care Director.  “Children in the program enjoy friendships, swimming, time in the gym and many other activities.”

Oil City School District provides bus transportation for the program and the YMCA picks up and drops off kids in the Cranberry School District.  Seats on those buses are limited.  Registration must be completed early to arrange transportation.

YMCA Child Care Staff provide activities focused on academic enhancement, character, social growth, and physical activity.  Children connect with others to build lasting relationships, develop a sense of belonging and cultivate a strong character.

“There is a great need for school-age child care in Venango County,” said Tom Spence, CEO of the Scenic Rivers YMCA. “We can fill that need and provide valuable activities that will allow kids to stay active and have fun.  We offer financial assistance for those in need.”

The YMCA is planning for a full Before and After School Program during the 2019-2020 school year.

The YMCA Younger Days Child Care Center provides more than just childcare.  YMCA teachers care about children and provide a nurturing environment centered in Christian values.  The center, which includes care for infants to preschoolers has been running at capacity for several years.

Pricing and enrollment forms for the YMCA Before and After School Program can be found on the YMCA website www.oilcityymca.org/before-after-school-care or by calling the center Director, Jennifer Cooper at 814-670-0594.
