13th Annual Bill Beith Memorial Golf Tournament Set for June 14

RENO, Pa. – The 13th Annual Bill Beith Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Wanango Country Club in Reno on Monday, June 14.

There will be a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start.

The event is sponsored by the City of Franklin and the Franklin Retail and Business Association. Proceeds benefit the City of Franklin Downtown Development Fund with an emphasis on downtown festivals and events and the Franklin Retail Events Fund.

Beith was a long-time City of Franklin employee who was beloved for his work with the area children, his tireless support of Franklin’s festivals, and his passion for the Franklin community.

He was a 1963 graduate of Franklin High School where he was well-known as a gifted athlete participating in all sports.

Employed for eight years as the physical director at the Franklin YMCA, he volunteered for the City of Franklin from 1975 to 1978 at which time he became the recreation director for the city. In 1989, he took over the position of code enforcement and zoning officer for the City of Franklin, retiring from that position in March 2006. Beith then worked with Beith Associates.

His love of Franklin showed throughout his accomplishments such as developing with his wife, Ronnie, the Franklin Fine Arts Council and numerous festivals and events. In addition to his many other accomplishments, Beith was awarded the “Artist of the Year” in 1990 for his work developing the arts in the region.
