Oil City Woman Facing 100 Charges Related to Identity Theft, Fraud Due in Court on Wednesday

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City woman who allegedly used a known victim’s unemployment debit card to make over $4,500.00 in purchases is due in court on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate 29-year-old Amanda Ray Martin is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, in Venango County Central Court on the following charges:

– Identity Theft, Felony 3
– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Felony 3 (four counts)
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Theft Property Lost Etc By Mistake, Felony 3
– Identity Theft, Misdemeanor 1 (32 counts)
– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Misdemeanor 1 (18 counts)
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1 (six counts)
– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Misdemeanor 2 (10 counts)
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 2 (15 counts)
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3 (11 counts)

She is currently free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from an investigation initiated in August.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, in August 2020, Amanda Martin received an unemployment debit card belonging to a known victim in the mail.

Martin allegedly activated the card and proceeded to spend $4,587.50 through 32 transactions I the Venango County and Erie County areas without the victim’s permission.

Martin was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16.
