Two Injured in Route 8 Collision

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Two individuals were injured in a collision that occurred on Route 8 in Sandycreek Township on Friday morning.

According to Franklin-based State Police, the accident happened around 6:37 a.m. on Friday, January 20, on State Highway 8, in Sandycreek Township, Venango County, involving 21-year-old Jacob A. Craig, of Franklin, and 25-year-old John C. Italia, of New Castle.

Police say the crash happened as Craig was traveling south on State Highway 8, north of Means Drive, in a 2004 Ford Explorer, and Italia was traveling north on Route 8, south of Means Drive, in a 2013 Dodge Avenger.

According to police, Craig traveled across the double yellow lines in his Ford Explorer and struck Italia’s Dodge Avenger in the right northbound lane. Both vehicles came to a final rest on the roadway.

Police say Craig suffered suspected minor injuries; however, he refused transport.

Community Ambulance Service transported Italia to UPMC Northwest for suspected minor injuries.

Both drivers were using seat belts.

Both vehicles were disabled.

Craig was charged with a traffic violation.
