Venturella served in the US Army in the South Pacific and Philippine Islands during World War II. He was a First Sergeant with the 295th Joint Assault Signal Company and received two Bronze Service Stars.

He was a 1940 graduate of Oil City High School. On November 15, 1950 he married the former Phyllis Mary Gatto, with whom he had three sons.

Following his service, Venturella was associated with the family-owned food market on West First Street. He eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Serice in 1984 after 22 years of service.

He was a past commander of the James M Henderson Post 32 American Legion, a 4th degree member of the Oil City Knights of Columbus, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, former member of the Senior Citizens Golf League, and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Venturella is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Oil City.
