Area Man Behind Bars for Threatening Victims With Large Knife

CRAWFORD CO., Pa. (EYT) — Police say an area man was recently arrested for threatening two victims with a large knife.

Around 12:48 a.m. on July 17, Meadville-based State Police responded to a location in the 19000 block of Adamsville Road in Fairfield Township, Crawford County, for a report of a man being highly intoxicated, out of control, and threatening to harm people with a knife.

Police say upon their arrival, they made contact with 43-year-old Robert Staup, of Cochranton, and he subsequently failed to obey their commands to show his hands.

Staub was then tasered and placed into custody after reportedly fighting with police.

According to police, further investigation found that Staup was being physically menacing toward a known 43-year-old female victim from Cochranton and a known 21-year-old male victim from Cochranton.

Staup allegedly threatened the victims while holding a large military-style knife in his hands.

Court documents indicate Staup was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Rita J. Marwood at 9:55 p.m. on July 17 on the following charges:

– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
– Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Summary

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Crawford County Jail.
