Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a great time to get together with family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers for a few hours of fun while raising money to help kids in our community. The Bowl For Kids’ Sake event serves as the major fundraiser for the Big Brothers Big Sisters one-to-one mentoring program.

Jill Rhoads, “Big Sister of the Year” and Steve Rhoads, “Big Brother of the Year” will kick off the Bowl For Kids’ Sake by bowling the first frame. They were chosen when their “Littles” nominated them and provided details on why their “Big” should be honored. Jill and Steve’s “Littles” wrote letters explaining how supportive and dedicated their “Bigs” are.

Their mother stated, “Jill and Steve are a great influence for them and have helped my children have a better relationship at home and with each other. They continue to be a positive support and have really helped my kids’ confidence level. I want to send them out a huge THANK YOU.”

Jessica Walters, program director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Venango, Forest, and Clarion Counties stated the program can only survive with the support of the community.

“We truly rely on the kindness and generosity of our many volunteers and sponsors. We are very grateful for the continued partnerships we have established throughout the community and are always pursuing to create more.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a program of the Family Service and Children’s Aid Society, based in Oil City and a program supported by The United Way. Through its community-based, one-to-one mentoring program, staff match children who are facing adversity (“Littles”) with adult volunteers (“Bigs”) who can offer guidance and support to the children.
