UPDATE: Tanker Truck Explosion Shuts Down Route 27

PLUM TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Emergency crews from several area agencies are on the scene of a tanker truck fire in Plum Township, Venango County.

Several area companies are battling a large tanker truck fire along Route 27, near Diamond, approximately 4.5 miles west of Titusville.

The explosion occurred after a tanker truck hauling gasoline crashed and rolled over, just before 4:00 p.m.

A representative from Venango County 911 told exploreVenango.com that emergency crews from seven Venango County agencies responded to the crash. Emergency responders from Crawford County are also on the scene.

The representative also stated that one person was entrapped.

No further information is available at this time.

As of 7:25 p.m., the roadway remains closed, according to officials.

Reports indicate that nearby residents are currently without landline telephone and electric service. The outages are believed to be related to the crash.
