Units Respond to Structure Fire at Joy Mining Machinery Plant

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Firefighters from area stations were dispatched on Tuesday afternoon to the Joy Mining Machinery plant located on Liberty Street in Franklin.

According to a Venango County 9-1-1 dispatcher, a report came in around 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, of smoke emanating from a portion of the plant near the intersection of Liberty Street and Third Street in Franklin, Venango County.

Franklin Fire Department, Oil City Fire Department, and Seneca Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

Community Ambulance Service was also called to the scene.

Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Department, and Polk Fire Rescue were placed on standby.

No injuries have been reported.

The extent of the damage is unknown at this time, the dispatcher said.

The scene remained active as of 4:40 p.m.
