BUTLER, Pa. — Sources say on September 16, a Butler man allegedly set a booby-trap to harm his estranged girlfriend at his residence on Unionville Road, in Butler, Butler County.

According to a published article in insidebutlercounty.com, 48-year-old Kenneth G. Robinson, of Butler, set a booby-trap that consisted of a shotgun along with string attached to plywood secured to the ceiling with nails driven through it.

According to officers, the trap would have hit a person in the chest area after the board swung down with the pointed ends impacting the open door area.

Police say Robinson changed the locks on his home, and when his girlfriend could not enter through the doorway, she climbed through a window and saw the booby-trap.

According to police, Robinson told police he set up the trap for security.

According to court documents, Robinson is charged with the following offenses:

-Aggravated Assault — Felony 2
-Possession Of Firearm Prohibited — Felony 2
-Simple Assault — Misdemeanor 2
-Recklessly Endangering Another Person — Misdemeanor 2

Unable to post $25,000.00 bail, he was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

His Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on September 24, in front of Magisterial District Judge Lewis E. Stoughton.
