Car Slams into Tree Off Beatty Run Road; Two Locals Injured

CANAL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Two local individuals were rushed to Meadville Medical Center following a one-vehicle crash that occurred on Beatty Run Road on Thursday afternoon.

Franklin-based State Police say the accident happened around 2:09 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, on Beatty Run Road, in Canal Township, Venango County.

According to police, as 79-year-old Lois K. Newton, of Utica, was traveling west on Beatty Run Road, she became distracted, and her 2007 Toyota Corolla drifted from the roadway.

The car struck a tree causing injuries to Newton and her passenger, 55-year-old Randall C. Newton, also of Utica.

Utica Volunteer Fire and Relief Association transported Lois Newton to Meadville Medical Center for injuries of unknown severity.

Randall Newton also suffered injuries of unknown severity; Community Ambulance Service transported him to Meadville Medical Center.

Both occupants were using seat belts.

Lois Newton was charged with a traffic violation.

Utica Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Sugarcreek Towing.
